The cottage has been sympathetically refurbished to combine the latest amenities with 'old world' charm. Situated just off Mill Street in the heart of historic Ludlow, within a short walk of a variety of colourful shops, traditional pubs and fine restaurants. Churchwarden Cottage has a wonderful cosy feel, with a host of exposed beams, and period features. Ludlow has been accurately described as the "finest town in England" famous for fine eating in Michelin star restaurants and a slow pace of life, in fact Ludlow is Britain's first 'Cittaslow' slow food town. Churchwarden Cottage provides an ideal base to explore this hidden gem. This enchanting cottage has been tastefully renovated to compliment the existing features. From the moment you walk into the lounge with the exposed beams and inglenook fireplace you know this will be a holiday to remember. The fully equipped modern kitchen includes, a microwave oven, ceramic hob/oven, washer/dryer, dishwasher, larderfridge and freezer. To fully enjoy your visit, Churchwarden Cottage boasts a separate dining room that comfortably seats up to six people. Upstairs we find the sumptuously appointed master bedroom, spacious and comfortable, with a built in wardrobe and access to your very own south-facing balcony. Perfect for enjoying a leisurely breakfast or a romantic late evening drink watching the sun gently set. The second double bedroom is furnished with a full sized double bed and built in wardrobes. Also on the first floor is the bathroom, tastefully finished with Spanish tiles and fitted with a luxury bath and shower. There is an enclosed, secluded, patio garden with a high stone wall and paved area, delightfully set off with raised flower beds, a table and chairs are provided for you to enjoy the summer sun. Sir John Betjamin, late poet laureate and lover of architecture, referred to Ludlow as 'The finest town in England" and it is easy to see why. A gentle stroll through the town reveals a delightful array of styles ranging from Medieval, Tudor, and Georgian to award winning modern buildings sympathetically designed to blend in with their surroundings. The impressive castle stands like a sentinel high above the River Teme, and many events are held within its grounds including the famous Ludlow Festival Shakespeare production, and various food and drink fairs. St Laurence's Church is magnificent and the soaring tower can be spotted from many miles away in every direction. It is widely known as the "Cathedral of the Marches" it is one of the largest churches in England. Ludlow is situated approximately halfway between Hereford and Shrewsbury and provides the ideal base for visiting many different places and attractions. The unspoilt Shropshire Hills provide the backdrop to the town and Ironbridge Gorge Museum and the Severn Valley Railway are within easy travelling distance. There are many different activities available in the vicinity ranging from horse riding, canoeing and mountain biking for the more active, to the more relaxed fishing and golf. A wide range of country pubs locally available in which you can relax and enjoy.
