Description
The Dragon Hotel is a 17th Century family run coaching Inn in the lee of the ruins of Montgomery Castle.
The Dragon Hotel is a fine old Inn with 20 En-suite rooms, most with free WiFi access.
The kitchen has held an AA Rosette for Fine Food continuously since 1999, preparing meals for both the traditional restaurant and the less formal lounge bar with flair and imagination using the best of local produce from this richly vibrant agricultural area.
The restaurant is heavily timbered with a fireplace created from an old bread oven, there is an a la carte menu and also table d’hôte that changes daily an extensive wine list offers a choice of accompaniment. The lounge bar menu, prepared with the same attention to detail, offers a range from sandwiches and ploughman’s to local steaks and a selection from a daily specials board. The bar has a wide range of drinks available including three traditional ales one at least from a local brewery.
Unusually for a small Country Inn; The Dragon boasts an indoor heated Swimming Pool with Sauna, free of charge to our guests.
This village sized town is set in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Shropshire-Mid Wales borders, liberally scattered with ruined castles and other places of interest. Ideally placed for walking Offa's Dyke footpath and visiting Powis Castle.

From the junction of the A5/B4386. Take the B4386 south to Montgomery. Follow Chirbury road on to Arthur street (crossing Princes street). Take the last exit off the square. Finish at The Dragon Hotel.
